Join us at this important launch event…
Thursday 5th June 2008, 08.30-13.00 at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester
This is an exciting time for Leicestershire- one of growing optimism, energy and enthusiasm. There’s an increased sense of common purpose, positive political leadership and unprecedented levels of investment.
It's no wonder that Leicestershire 2020 is an ambitious vision to inspire businesses, residents and investors alike. The opportunities are enormous and together we can transform the way people think about Leicestershire.
Vision 2020: “Leicestershire will have a prosperous, enterprising and dynamic economy, characterised by innovative businesses, creative people, sustainable communities and an attractive environment.” (From Leicestershire 2020)
The event on Thursday 5th June is not just milestone of our “togetherness”, but a dynamic demonstration of the private, public and third sectors working innovatively and creatively to improve our economy.
This event marks a transition. Leicestershire 2020 is the result of twelve successful months of consultation. Now we have to develop an implementation plan around seven key strands: innovation, image, employment and skills, business and enterprise, infrastructure, environmental sustainability and sustainable communities.
That’s why your involvement in this event is so important. There are three main objectives:
- To launch the strategy and consider its importance to all of us
- To reinforce our individual commitment to making it happen
- To set out a wide range of clear and tangible actions that will help implement the recommendations of the strategy
We would like delegates to decide on which of the seven strands of development outlined above are most interesting or relevant to them. This would be done at the point of pre-event registration (see above).
At the event, you will have an opportunity to discuss ideas and proposed actions within designated groups. Key proposals from each discussion group within the main conference hall will be fed by facilitators (via networked computers) to a central play-out facility on the main conference screen. This allows each table to have an idea of what other tables are proposing across the different development strands. Conclusions will then be presented in a summing-up session with an opportunity for delegates to have their final say via an interactive voting system.
This information will help develop the Implementation Plan that will be published online in October this year.
I hope you agree that this will be an exciting and dynamic event, where your contribution could make a real difference in taking Leicestershire 2020 forward.
Please confirm your attendance or a nominated alternative person in your organisation for the event by completing the short online registration form. Final date for registration is Friday 16th May. However, your urgent response will help us to better plan the event.
